About
After working in the oil and gas industry in Aberdeen for many years, I decided I needed a complete change. As a lifelong dog lover, I started up a small dog walking business which took off from day one. I ran my dog walking business for 14 years and I became fascinated by dog behaviour. I decided to spend the next few years studying not only canine psychology but also human psychology and gained an Open College Diploma in both. I am a registered member of The Academy of Dog Training and Behaviour and a fully qualified Dog Training Instructor.
There are no rule books, so I prefer one-to-one sessions as opposed to classes because what might work for one dog might not for the next. The focus in a one to one is purely on you and your dog. My effective and personalised training is tailored to each owner and their dog. A training option I provide is clicker training, also known as operant conditioning. This is based on behavioural psychology that relies on marking desirable behaviour and rewarding it, acting as a positive reinforcement. Although this has a high success rate, it’s not suitable for all, therefore I provide other types of training as well.
Training in small steps to shape a new behaviour is a fast, effective way of making training fun for both the dog and owner. I follow a professional approach by looking at the positive ways to move forward. After a consultation session, I will be available to offer advice and support free of charge for a fixed period whenever you feel you need it
.
I have gained many qualifications in relation to both Canine and Human behaviour, this allows me to combine methods to tailor a training session that works for both you, and your dog.
